First off, for those who love the days of Al Capone and Eliot Ness, we have our Thompson Chicago Typewriter AEG Machine Gun. This submachine gun was invented by John T. Thompson in 1919 and became infamous during the Prohibition and Depression era. It was a common sight of the time, being used by both law enforcement officers and criminals alike. The Thompson was also known informally as: the “Tommy Gun,” the “Trench Broom,” the “Trench Sweeper,” the “Chicago Piano,” the “Chicago Typewriter,” and the “Chopper.” Our airsoft version of this infamous weapon has a full metal body and metal gear box, semi and full automatic firing functions, and fires at up to 426 feet per second. This is a must have for historians who would like to have one for display or target practice without the cost of the authentic submachine gun.

In our line of martial arts replicas, we have the Praying Mantis Katana. The Praying Mantis is a symbol of cunning and power in Japanese culture and is consequently a highly respected theme in Samurai swords. NetLink Enterprises Inc. is an 11 year old e-commerce company.  Many e-commerce companies have come and gone during that same time period.  Fortunately we  have thrived and had some fun along the way.   As we all know well, the internet landscape is incredibly dynamic.  For e-commerce companies, things have gone from hawking merchandise through advertising on classified ad type websites, to selling on giant platforms like Ebay & Amazon, to selling on our own websites with quick checkouts & automated order processing.  Things have really changed. To put things in true perspective, when our company started selling products online, Google had not even been created yet.

These are the reasons I am writing this blog.  Netlink has waited way too long to get into some of the newest changes -  the social networking platforms, but I figure its better late than never.

First I’ll begin with some background information.   We always have had a successful strategy for selling on the internet.  Sell niche products not found in your local mass merchant  store,  build multiple content specific web sites for more exposure and higher search engine rankings (avoiding the Google AdWord fees), sell on popular e-commerce platforms such  as Amazon and eBay (although we have since stopped selling on eBay).  We also ship our orders quickly and provide good customer service.  This combination has worked well over the last decade.  Granted we haven’t grown like into a 10 million dollar company, but sales have grown slow and steady over the years and I have provided my family a decent living and I have the freedom that comes along with being an entrepreneur.  Good stuff!

Lately though, sales seem to have slowed.  Yes, the economy is in a bit of trouble,  many people are out of work, cost of goods are rising, shipping rates are always increasing and so  are utilities.   But e-tailers have one major advantage over traditional brick and mortar stores, a growing sales channel with more and more people using the internet each day.  There definitely has to be good reasons to explain why our sales have sort of stagnated.  One reason is lack of exposure on the ever-growing social network scene.  This is the beginning of gaining that exposure.

We have created accounts on Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube and will update tons of company  information regularly with all our new friends and followers.   We will also continue to update and create some unique category blogs on this site (netlinkblog.com).  I am looking forward to navigate this new direction with my business partner and employees through the awesome and ever-changing internet universe for another 10 years.
